What does PFAS Mean?

PFAS is a group of chemicals that provide moisture and grease barriers. Studies have been coming out that prove these chemicals never fully degrade or compost. In fact they're often referred to as "forever chemicals". As a result many states are implementing PFAS bans which means businesses can't use food containers that have intentionally added PFAS. To qualify as a no added PFAS product, when tested there must be less than 100 parts per million of PFAS.

What is ASTM?

ASTM is the American Society for Testing and Materials. This is an organization that can help consumers identify which products are truly eco-friendly. They set standards and test product to meet strict requirements for compostability. The two ASTM standards you'll see on our products: ASTM D6400 and ASTM D6868.
